Had a really fun weekend shooting at the NZ Reining Nationals. I suspect in the future whether I was photographing or not I would still enjoy attending just to see the incredible horses and horsemanship it was a super interesting event! I’m feeling a little inspired to ride again myself and ... I haven’t even thought about riding in a very long time ( not since my ATR buggy accident where I was an unlucky passenger when it flipped in 2015 - creating an unfortunate series of events that led to a very slow 2 year recovery and rehabilitation! So that’s saying a lot! ) You have a great wee sport there and I hope my images tell a nice story about how cool your sport is and it continues to grow because asides from the gorgeous turnouts and horses it’s just a bit cooler than dressage lol with the slides and spins. I have put Saturday’s images up, on Sunday I chucked in a different memory card and it was doing weird things...I don’t really have time to unravel that mystery just at the moment with a trip to the Able Tasman just a couple of days away and my dearest wee dog heading down to stay at the grandparents for a few nights! But I may get a chance to look at it again later next week. Thanks to those who have purchased images so far - I like to offer that 2 day discount immediately after an event - it just gives me a bit of a gauge on how I went, what kinds of images people like and covers my traveling costs so I like to reward those prompt purchasers and say thankyou! So thankyou everyone sorry if I got in anyone’s way, my feet someone’s travel before I think, I’m always trying to set up shots but there are a lot of variables and no one knows I’m doing it, so it’s alot of misses to occasionally get something a bit different (if I can manage to get it at all) Lol that’s photography! But as time goes on and I get to know where I can and can’t be and what challenges different arenas and venues have it gets easier but with it being my first time at reining and first time doing reining in the indoor I mostly just tried to create a nice ‘story’ of your workouts and the manoeuvres so you can share your sport with friends and family. I always take the path of least resistance, less tension, softness, correctness, if it’s not quite right its deleted immediately. My first goal is always to promote equestrian sport for the future. Lastly, I think my favourite shot was either of Marcus in the dim light during my test shots or Catherine’s stop right in front of me! Very cool! Hope to see you all again! :)
